PEPSICO admitted to using filtered tap water in its Aquafina bottles.
A spokesperson for the company insisted that the Aquafina bottled water went through a seven-step filtration process to remove minerals and contents you would normally find in tap water.
“[Our water] is purified through a rigorous, seven-step purification process called Hydro-7. That is not the same water you get in your sink,” the spokesperson told Inverse Magazine.
Michelle Naughton, spokeswoman for PepsiCo told ABC news, “If this helps clarify the fact that the water originates from public sources, then it’s a reasonable thing to do.”
The company has been pressured to change the bottle’s label to clarify its public water source origin.
