STREET TERRACES: Many establishments may be forced to close
THE Mallorca Association of Bars, Cafeterias and Restaurants has complained about Palma City Hall’s decisions to raise fees for having terraces in the street.
The fee has gone up by as much as 86 per cent in 37 areas, which the association says is “unfair, disproportionate and unjustified.” They are considering taking the matter to court and say that it damages small businesses which are attempting to combat seasonality. The President, Alfonso Robledo, says that many establishments may be forced to close and people will lose their jobs.
