Half-a-million turn up for local festival

THE local Fira de Tots Sants of Cocentaina has seen record numbers turn out for the event, with close to half-a-million people visiting the fair over the three days, in spite of the inclement weather.

The town hall, headed by Mayor Mireia Estepa, is now looking at ways in which to gain more funding for the incredibly popular event. The event counted on the participation of more than 900 exhibitors and covered an area of 126,000 square metres.

Activities included more than 200 cultural performers, from musical theatre and circus acts. The event was a huge success for the exhibitors in general, according to the the mayor, with many exceeding their forecasts. and the town hall is looking at ways in which to expand the event for next year.
