Russia makes Egypt flights announcement
RUSSIAN President Vladimir Putin announced on Friday that Russia has halted all flights to Egypt after reports that the Sharm el-Sheikh crash may have been caused by a bomb.
Russia has made the security decision after investigators from the UK said they believe a bomb put in the plane´s hold before taking off was responsible for the deaths of all 224 people on board.
Britain has already suspended flights to Sharm el-Sheikh and is in the process of bringing people home.
Associates of the Islamic State have claimed responsibility for the incident after Russia began air strikes in Syria.
The head of Russia´s FSB security service made the recommendation to Putin following updates from the UK investigators.
Russia has up to 45,000 Russian holidaymakers in Egypt at this time and the UK has around 19,000 nationals still in Sharm el-Sheikh.
Egypt is taking the lead with the investigation into the incident with experts from Russia and other countries in support.
