FIREMEN and the Environment rangers rescued a dog trapped in a water deposit near Lucainena de las Torres.
It was found by the rangers after they were alerted by its desperate barking as it tried to scale the sides of the 14-metre deep irrigation pool. The rangers called the emergency services who in turn contacted the Almeria City fire brigade. Once there they used the classic double rope procedure to reach the exhausted animal and bring it to the top. The dog is now recovering at the Pechina animal shelter where it is being treated with antibiotics.
