Adoptive parents sentenced for daughter’s murder

GALICIAN couple Rosario Porto and Alfonso Basterra have been given 18 year jail sentences for the murder of their adopted 12-year-old daughter Asunta in 2013.

Following a guilty verdict issued by a jury on October 30, Judge Jorge Cid Carballo gave his sentence on Thursday (November 12), which also includes bans from fostering, adopting or holding custody of any children for the 18 years they will spend behind bars.
