TWO girls from Alhaurin de la Torre, Gema Rios Suarez and Marta Palomo Martin, have received Andalucian Extraordinary Secondary Education Prizes for their excellent academic results last year.
Gema Rios Suarez, from Capellania school, finished her compulsory secondary schooling with an average mark of 10 out of 10 and Marta Palomo Martin, from El Pinar school, with one of 9.98 out of 10.
They both placed amongst the 50 best students in Andalucia out of a total of more than 300,000.
Local mayor Joaquin Villanova has congratulated the two girls, who he said were an example to be followed for other youths, and encouraged them to continue studying in the future.
