FOOD DONATIONS: Will be distributed to those in need.
A PUBLIC library in Axarquia has come up with a new way to collect food for local families in need and launched a Books for Food campaign.
Almost 1,500 old copies of books, magazines and other items donated to Antonio de Hilaria library in Rincon de la Victoria will be available for anyone who wishes to swap them for a kilo of non-perishable foodstuff, the council announced.
The campaign will be running until December 22 and is a novel way of getting rid of excess material and helping out at the same time.
Those interested are invited to visit the library from Monday to Friday between 9am and 2pm or 4pm and 8pm to browse the selection available in the hall and add their donations of food to the collection. These will later be distributed to those in need by various local associations.
