Drink-drivers in the UK to be named and shamed

© South Yorkshire Police

Anyone caught drink-driving in south Yorkshire over the Christmas period will be named and shamed by local police.

Drivers arrested and charged for being over the limit during December will have their names released to the public on the South Yorkshire Police website and Twitter page, followed by almost 70,000 people.

The naming and shaming idea is part of South Yorkshire Police´s ´No Regrets´ campaign.  The campaign isn´t designed to stop people enjoying themselves, just the opposite in fact.

Other police forces in the UK will be carrying additional checks throughout the holiday period.
