Torremolinos goes all out to attract festive revellers to the town

IMPRESSIVE: The 12-metre-tall Christmas tree.

A NATURAL ice-rink, food fair, vinyl exhibition, 40-stall market, and an artistic illumination of the town centre are all key parts of an ambitious plan by Torremolinos Town Council.

It is hoped the impressive display will help secure the coastal town’s place among the top Spanish areas to enjoy Christmas and New Year festivities.

Two of the busiest streets, the Costa del Sol square and Palma de Mallorca avenue, will be car-free due to on-going works and the council has elected to take advantage of this by setting up an ice-rink and flea market, with handicrafts, street-food, street lighting and a 12-metre-tall Christmas tree.

Planners also hope to continue the reinvigoration of Plaza de la Nogalera with the week running up to New Year’s Eve having more than 50 activities scheduled, including concerts, a triathlon, children’s fun and live films.

It marks an eventful year for the square which has hosted Gay Pride, Oktoberfest and Halloween events for revellers.
