Energica Goes Public with the ‘Tesla of Motorcycles’

BEING hailed by its Italian owners as, ‘The Tesla of motorcycles’, European bike maker Energica have launched their production version of its Eva street bike last week at the EICMA 2015 show.

The zero-emissions solution to powerful Japanese crotch rockets is allegedly due to go on sale within a year. While you still can’t quite buy a €23,000 EnergicaEgo, the company has grown its line-up to include a “naked” version called the Eva.

The 2015 Energica Eva is a street-fighter version of the Ego and uses the same 136 horsepower electric motor and 11.7 kWh lithium-ion battery pack, which should allow this lightning powered superbike to travel around 95 miles per charge.

As if that wasn’t big enough news for the small start-up, the bigger news is Energica’s aim to go public, eventually offering its company shares on the London Stock Market.

Swiss global financial services have been hired to help Energica get things prepared as they begin to look for private investment to raise the necessary free capital in order to be listed on the Stock Exchange’s AIM Italia sub-market.

They hope to raise more capital to expand and grow its business by selling approximately €20 million worth of stock if and when it finally lands on AIM.

With other electric motorcycle firms getting absorbed into large manufacturing companies or going to the wind in recent months, it’s good to see a company like Energica make it this far.
