PLAN: Around 80 portable classrooms will be eliminated in Andalucia in 2016.
PARTIDO POPULAR (PP) Representative in the Motril Town Council, Luisa Maria Garcia Chamorro, has complained that the Junta de Andalucia regional government has not included Motril in its plans to get rid of various portable classrooms in the region over the course of 2016.
The regional government has promised to eliminate around 80 portables in the coming year and has allocated €107 million for the initiative.
However, Garcia Chamorro expressed her frustration that these changes would not occur in Motril, in particular in the Colegio Publico Cardenal Belluga of Los Alamos.
She demanded an explanation from Motril Mayor Flor Almon, and said the oversight seemed to indicate that Motril is not a priority in the eyes of the regional government.
Garcia Chamorro demanded an immediate solution to the problem, saying there are many children who are attending classes in the portables, and that ‘this should not be allowed in the 21st century.’
