STIRRED up shoppers will start descending on the streets today, Thursday January 7, as the January sales come into full force following the Epiphany celebrations.
Enthusiastic Costa del Sol residents are expected to bump up the Malaga Province spending average with the region coming second only to Almeria across Andalucia.
A new report from the Union of Consumers revealed that Malaga residents will spend an average of €95.95, well ahead of their Cadiz counterparts who will fork out a median of €62.70.
An interesting regulation, which came into force in 2015, allowed shopkeepers to decide exactly when they want to carry out special sales periods, meaning some already had sales in action throughout December to capitalise on the pre-Christmas rush.
Roughly half of business owners across Andalucia, however, have resolutely held steady and will instead unveil their massive sales and discounts today.
