COCA COLA: has to compensate the workers.
THE Coca-Cola Company in Mallorca has had the fizz taken out of its bottle this week, as the courts ruled in favour of 64 workers whose right to strike was violated.
The judgment against the multinational drinks company was that they would pay a total of €115,000 to the 64 staff, who took strike action against staff cuts at the beginning of February 2014, and as a result Coca Cola simply replaced them.
They have now agreed that this was an illegal substitution of staff and have decided to compensate the 64 workers of the Palma bottling plant with an amount totalling €115,000, where each worker will receive sums between €336 and €2,800 for violation of their right to go on strike.
