Almeria desert provides backdrop for US TV series

FOLLOWING up on their legendary film heritage, the deserts of Almeria will once again welcome film crews and actors as hit American television series Penny Dreadful embraces the desert background of El Chorrillo and Tabernas. 

Shooting has already begun and is expected to last until mid-February after 500 extras were selected to appear. Pechina Mayor Juan Manuel Lopez has welcomed the opportunity to showcase the area’s filming credentials, especially after Game of Thrones left a bumper €200,000 bonus in the town.
