WORLD Cancer Day was celebrated in Gibraltar on February 4 when it brought together all of Gibraltar’s cancer charities in the Piazza to focus public awareness on the problems faced by so many under the theme, We Can I Can.
This is the first time such an event which involved charities Breast Cancer Support Gibraltar, Cancer Relief Gibraltar, Cancer Research UK Gib Branch, Prostate Cancer Support Group Gibraltar, RICC, Bloodwise and Pathway through Pain, together with the Gibraltar Health Authority has been held locally but in just over four hours it managed to attract a great deal of attention.
Amongst those giving their support to the event which encourages early detection of the illness as well as research into its causes was Dr John Cortes, Minister of Health and Environment.
