The gloves are off over the EU.

THE PRIME MINISTER’S own officials have labelled the renegotiations on February 19 as ‘crunch-time’.

The stakes could not be higher for Mr Cameron as he heads to Brussels for the defining moment of his political career.

Experts have commented that the results are certainly not guaranteed even though Mr Cameron has already visited 20 EU countries in order to broker a new deal for the UK’s membership in the EU.

Aims to secure the go-ahead on a British referendum will be debated and if the PM is successful this will go ahead on June 23. The referendum will give British citizens the opportunity to vote on staying in the EU.

One official close the Prime Minister commented: “We need to secure the right settlement for the British people.”
