READY FOR ACTION: The new station will keep vehicles and equipment at the ready.
NERJA’S future fire station should be up and running before the summer, Provincial Firefighters Consortium president Francisco Delgado Bonilla and local councillors Cristobal Fernandez Paez, Rosa Arrabal and Jose Maria Rivas confirmed after a visit to the station last week.
Located next to the new crematorium, the station covers an area of 3,631 square metres and consists of two blocks designed in an L shape.
One block will house offices, control and utility rooms, restrooms and lockers plus a gym, canteen and study, while the other will consist of garages and workshops for the fire brigade’s vehicles.
The second block will also be used to store all equipment and will house the general water tank.
The cost of the project was stated to be €1.2 million, and was shared by Nerja Town Hall and Malaga Provincial Council.
