Tell-all TV show claims British Queen endured a rocky marriage

Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh.

A CHANNEL 5 documentary will make explosive claims about Prince Philip and Queen Elizabeth’s marriage, reports from February 22 claim.

According to the creators of ‘Inside Buckingham Palace,’ the show will give viewers the opportunity to take a glance through the keyhole of the Palace’s front door and expose something of “what life is really like” for the royals.

Featuring appearances from royal confidantes, former Palace staff and some showbiz friends in the know, the two-part programme will consider “the scandals, tragedies and triumphs” of the Queen’s sixty-three year reign, as well as exploring the monarchy’s future in the hands of Prince Charles.

One of those alleged scandals to emerge during the years since the Queen’s coronation in 1953, is that Prince Philip was a playboy who consorted with movie stars including Peter Ustinov and David Niven, and may have kept a mistress or two on the side.

Another is his apparently well-concealed dislike of the Queen Mother, who, if the claims made in the documentary are to be believed, was forced out of her Buckingham Palace residence by her son-in-law’s decision to turn the heating down during a cold spell.

The longest-serving consort of any reigning British monarch, the Duke of Edinburgh was born in Greece but exiled while still a child. He married the Queen in 1947 after corresponding with her for eight years beforehand.

The first part of the documentary will be aired on February 24 at 9pm (GMT).
