Leicester Square – hostage situation in Bella Italia.
A WOMAN was held at knife-point during a two hour hostage situation at a central London restaurant.
A man has now been arrested after police officers were called to Bella Italia in Leicester Square in the evening of February 25.
Dozens of officers wearing riot gear and numerous police vehicles were present at the scene whilst the area was cordoned off. Restaurant goers were told to stay inside while police negotiated with the hostage taker.
Met police said is a statement that the incident was over just before 11pm, a couple of hours after it started and one man has been detained. There are no reported injuries. The arrested man was escorted using riot shields to a secure van and driven away. He was found with a knife in his pocket.
