GETTING TO KNOW YOU: Denia councillors and Local Police officers prepare to pound the beat.
DENIA Town Hall intends to forge direct links with all residents. In order to bring the corporation closer, the town has been split into neighbourhoods with a councillor assigned to each.
The councillors have visited their patches for the first time, introducing themselves to residents, shopkeepers and business owners.
“Councillors are there to channel complaints, suggestions and proposals,” said Citizens’ Participation councillor, Oscar Mengual, whose department will pass these on to the corresponding town hall section, Mengual explained.
Councillors are visiting their districts on foot each month, keeping up with the neighbourhood’s needs and letting residents know how the issues they have raised are progressing.
Local Police officers are also going to be out there on the streets in the same neighbourhoods. “They are there to ensure public safety and help residents with whom they will be in daily contact,” said Public Safety councillor Javier Scotto.
