IN a presentation held in Marbella on February 24, it was announced that the city council will support the introduction of a gourmet food market in the Avenida Ricardo Soriano within the next year which would employ up to 60 new people and create work for a further 30.
A star-studded quarter of businessmen, foodies and politicians, consisting of Alfil general manager Francisco Gomez Palma, Marbella Mayor Jose Bernal, the Michelin-starred chef Dani Garcia and the former director of La Consula hospitality school Rafael de la Fuente announced that it is envisioned an initial €450,000 will be invested in the opening of a seven-day a week, 470 square-metre gourmet food market.
High quality food, both raw to take away and cooked to enjoy on site is planned and once a final design has been approved, sometime after April 29, it is expected that the work will be started quickly so that the market can be opened for business within a further two months.
