Icy conditions are set to grip the nation.

FOUR INCHES of snow and 70 mph winds are set to shake the UK with the added warning of icy road conditions and freezing temperatures.

Storm Jake will approach from the south west with blustery weather and cold showers overnight. As the mercury plummets to six degrees in Northern cities, any signs that spring is on its way will have to be postponed.

The Met office is warning commuters about the possibility of disruption in rush hour tomorrow, March 2.

If you fancy a bet on the bitter conditions, bookmakers are predicting more harsh weather during March. Coral bookmakers are offering 1/5 that there will be snow in March and 4/1 that it will be the coldest March yet.

A Coral representative said: ‘The odds don’t bode well for those who were hoping for milder weather, with snow and freezing temperatures likely to grip the nation.’
