North Korea says it could launch an attack on South Korea and the US.

North Korea is threatening “A pre-emptive nuclear strike of justice to South Korea and the US” after a large military operation was launched.

Pyongyang has issued a statement saying recent military exercises are in preparation for an invasion. The US and bordering country South Korea have claimed that these are purely drills and not aggressive but defensive.

North Korea stated, regarding its enemies, that they: “are working with bloodshot eyes to infringe upon the dignity, sovereignty and vital rights” of North Korea. The defence commission threatened strikes to South Korea, US bases in the Pacific and the US mainland.

The statement continued: “If we push the buttons to annihilate the enemies even right now, all bases of provocations will be reduced to seas in flames and ashes in a moment.”

Moon Sang Gyan, a spokesman from South Korea said that Pyongyang must stop from a “rash act that brings destruction upon itself”.

The statements come after the largest ever military drills took place with 300,000 South Korean and 17,000 US troops. The drills are in preparation should North Korea launch a nuclear missile. Many speculators doubt whether North Korea would be capable of initiating such huge attacks especially of hitting the mainland of the United States.

Harsh sanctions have been issued on North Korea by the United Nations after Pyongyang carried out a nuclear test and launched long range ballistic missiles.
