THE Nerja Town Hall’s Foreign Residents’ Department has made an urgent request for all local residents to renew their padron registration before March 31. If they do not, the town runs the risk of losing 1,600 people from the census, which could be a huge blow for the community.
If the padron falls below 20,000 inhabitants Nerja will lose a significant amount of funding from the central government, which would result in a reduction of police officers, firefighters, teachers and other public services.
To renew their padron, residents should contact the town hall. The process is simple and does not take much time at all. Remember, there are only a few weeks left!
