Nanook.
NANOOK, a dog on his daily walk along Muelle Uno in Malaga City’s port, has become a hero by alerting his owner to a drowning man in the water and helping save his life.
At 7.30am on Thursday March 10, the one-year-old chocolate Labrador suddenly began to bark and pull his owner in the direction of Palmeral de las Sorpresas area of the port.
Owner Jose Ignacio later explained that Nanook dragged him towards the water, where he discovered a thin grey-haired man in his 60s who had fallen in and was crying unheard for help.

Jose Antonio ran for help after shouting to the man to hang on to something, and Port Police officers rushed to the scene accompanied by port workers, security guards and Guardia Civil officers. Between them all they managed to pull the man out of the water.
“He was freezing and close to drowning. They pulled him onto a boat and wrapped him in blankets,” hero-of-the day Nanook’s proud owner said.
