Embassy changes its Facebook name

FACEBOOK PAGE: The same advice with a slightly different name.

THE British Embassy has renamed its successful Facebook page ‘Brits living in Spain’.

The popular forum for unbiased information and debate on life in Spain that was launched two years ago is now called ‘Brits in Spain’.

Why change the name?  Simon Montague, Embassy’s Director for Communications explained that three-quarters of the Facebook page’s 18,300 followers live in Spain, but the remaining quarter are in the UK.

“So as well as acting as a popular forum for full-time residents, we also want to extend a welcome to the many thousands of Brits who have a second home here and those who visit year after year on holiday.”

The page covers a wide range of topics and vital information which includes advice on registering to vote in the EU referendum in June. Other topics include where to get an EHIC health card as well as tips on learning Spanish and navigating Spanish officialdom, places to visit and, of course, Embassy news.

Euro Weekly News readers who want to benefit from independent advice and experiences need only search for ‘Brits in Spain’ on Facebook, Mr Montague said.
