THE Los Boliches train station of Fuengirola, part of the Malaga-Fuengirola line, will be open to the public again as of tomorrow, Friday March 18. The end of the work has been timed to coincide with the Easter holidays, as this is the time of year when the Cercanias local railways register their highest volume of travellers.
The work is 90 per cent finished and will be concluded completely in the next few weeks. One of the only services that will still be unavailable will be use of the lift, which will remain closed for a bit longer for administrative reasons.
The project has had a total cost of €570,000, and has consisted in the elevation of the height of the platform to make travelling easier for passengers with reduced mobility.
The old stairs and the ramp have been demolished and new ones have been constructed, as well as a new walkway towards the platform.
To keep up with the demand from passengers during Easter, the trains will also have an extended schedule from March 20 to March 27. From Wednesday March 23 to Friday March 25 the train service will practically be uninterrupted, save for a few hours between 3.30am and 5.30am.
