SAND DUNES: Employees from the Marriot Hotel participated in the removal of the weed.
THE sand dunes in Marbella are receiving a long-awaited makeover with the removal of the weed ‘Cat-Claw’.
A group of 36 employees from the Marriot Hotel in Marbella participated in the removal of the weed on March 16 in an effort to restore the natural beauty of the dunes.
The Marbella dunes, near Real de Zaragoza, is an area being restored to their former natural glory as part of an environmental education campaign promoted by the local Marbella Sustainability department.
Marbella firefighters also got in on the action in helping to remove the ‘shame plants’ from the dunes, in order to keep the ecological reserve as true to its natural roots as possible.
The Sustainability department is encouraging the private sector to look after the dunes.
