Missile testing by North Korea.

TWO ballistic missiles have been launched in North Korea’s latest episode of their missile testing campaign and war mongering rhetoric.

The missiles flew about 500 miles before falling into the water, US officials have stated.

New sanctions were imposed on Kim Jong-Un’s country the day before these tests were launched following North Korea’s ‘illicit’ nuclear test and satellite launch.

Obama has ordered freezes all of North Korean government property in the United States and also bans US exports to, or investment in, North Korea. It also deemed that anyone, including non-Americans, would be blacklisted and also greatly expands powers to blacklist anyone, including non-Americans with dealings with North Korea.

Apparent Nodong missiles were fired from mobile road-side launch vehicles and with a maximum range of 1,300km, it could have the capability to reach all of South Korea and parts of Japan.

Japanese prime minister Shnizo Abe criticised the launch and commented that Japan would now work with South Korea and the US in opposition to Pyongyang.

The US defence press office said: “We call on North Korea to refrain from actions that further raise tensions in the region.”
