Sailing Course: Will kick off the activities.

AN energetic new project focusing on keeping young people away from drugs through increased activity is being launched next week.

Activa Marbella is aimed at young people aged between 15 and 30 and will include several training and leisure programmes intending to steer the youth of Marbella clear of certain illegal chemical pursuits.

The initiative doesn’t come cheap but then can you put a price on improving the opportunities of today’s youth? A total of €45,000 is being spent on the project, which will continue up until June 26.

Local youth councillor, Victoria Morales indicated that 70 per cent of the budget will come from the National Drugs Plan and 30 per cent of it will come from the municipal budget, in attempts to tackle drug problems head on with education and opportunity.

The programme aims to promote drug-free leisure and training activities, and promote clean living, a drug free lifestyle and help youngsters on the road to a successful career.

The campaign kicks off with a brisk sailing course taking place on March 26 in Marbella. There will be further activities like surfing, cooking and makeup courses at later dates.
