NOW UPDATED: New protective clothing has been provided.
THE Granada Provincial Council has given Motril’s fire station more resources so it can update its current equipment.
The fire station, with a crew of 51 firefighters, is the second largest in the area and is in charge of caring for around 100,000 people, so the equipment modernisation is long overdue.
Motril Mayor Flor Almon has thanked the Provincial Council for the materials provided, which include protective clothing, tools, and extinguishers which have an estimated cost of €170,000. The changes will allow the fire station to develop better projects and strategies.
The mayor also signed an agreement with the council for the acquisition of a new water pump fire engine which could be in service by end of the year.
