BUSES: Palma buses will soon allow bikes to be transported in the hold.

THE Mallorca Transport Consortium plans to allow bicycles on city buses and is discussing the possibility of allowing pets to travel with their owners.

The Consortium reported that regulations are being drawn from the results of a survey given to 1,300 people from November 2015 to February 2016.

The new regulation will allow the transport of bicycles in the hold of intercity buses under the condition that the cyclist is responsible for damage to his or her bike and for damage the bike may cause to the property of others.

The Consortium plans on conducting a pilot test in two or three bus lines where pets may travel to decide whether or not full authorisation should be given for the entire network and under what conditions.

Once the proposal is presented to transport users, operators, and the Balearic Land Transport Council for additional contributions to be made, it will be subject to the approval of the Council of Administration of the Transport Consortium.

The projected date of implementation is in May.
