PLENARY SESSION: The council approved the budget for the present year.
IN a recent plenary session, the Velez-Malaga Council definitively approved the municipal budget for the present year, which has a particular emphasis on employment and social politics. Money will also be spent on improvement projects in different parts of the city.
Velez Mayor Antonio Moreno Ferrer stated that “all of the municipal workers in the economics department have worked hard in the preparation of this budget, which is tailored to the needs of the people.”
Of note this year is a 30.5 per cent increase in regards to social spending. More than €5 million will be set aside for different social projects, including emergency grants for citizens and families in situations of poverty or social exclusion. Additionally €2 million will go towards a Local Dynamisation Plan which aims to help unemployed residents find work.
