Special art exhibition takes place in Mijas

Marbella's third job fair is expected to attract 5,000 attendees.

ADIMI is a charitable association in Mijas providing many essential services in assisting the personal development and social integration of disabled young people to improve their quality of life.  After a break of eight years due to lack of funding, the new ADIMI Centre, a modern, high tech facility in Mijas, is finally ready for inauguration.

Last year, Costa del Sol DFAS funded workshops for 30 of ADIMIs youngsters. Led by two professional artists, Jane Gomis and Enrique Agusti Lafuente, two groups of 15 youngsters attended the workshops, coordinated by Margit Björklund, herself an artist and DFAS member.

30 impressive paintings and some drawings are part of the exhibition in the new ADIMI centre C/ Candilera 5, Urb. La Cala Hill, Camino de Coin.  Six of the colourful artworks were selected for greeting cards and the printing cost sponsored by Crawford Associates, whose head Philip Crawford is also a member of DFAS. The cards will be sold at the centre during the exhibition at a cost of €1 each, with all proceeds going to ADIMI.

Costa del Sol DFAS (Decorative & Fine Arts Society) stimulates the enjoyment, knowledge and awareness of the Arts and  the interest in the preservation of our local heritage in Spain by holding lectures in English from October to May for their members and visitors.  Costa del Sol DFAS has made donations to ADIMI on three earlier occasions and two big paintings created by the young people now hang in the foyer of the new Centre.

The ADIMI centre is hosting many events prior to its official opening to give the sponsors and their guests the opportunity to visit and tour the centre.  Costa del Sol DFAS are delighted to have had the opportunity to work with the young people and to now see their colourful paintings adding colour to the white walls of the new Centre for the enjoyment of the young people and personnel for years to come.

The ADIMI official inauguration is planned for mid-May but our photograph shows an advance showing which took place on April 14.
