THE winners of the Gibraltar leg of the United Nations’ Universal Postal Union (UPU), letter writing competition 2016, (the theme of which was ‘Write a letter to your 45-year-old-self’) have been announced as follows:

Winner Anna Grech, aged 14, from Westside Comprehensive winning £300 and a trophy.

Second Sophie Macdonald, aged 14, from Westside Comprehensive winning £200 and a certificate.

Third Dikra Laghrich, aged 14, from Westside Comprehensive winning £100 and a certificate.

There were a record 197 entries from 8 schools.

Anna Grech’s entry now represents Gibraltar at the main competition in Berne, Switzerland.

The Minister for Postal Services, the Hon Neil Costa, presented the prizes at a ceremony held at the Mayor’s Parlour, City Hall, on Wednesday May 25.

The standard shown throughout the competition was again very high, making the judges’ work very difficult indeed.

The Royal Gibraltar Post Office would like to thank all participants, encouraging them to try again next year if they were not successful on this occasion.
