THE BISHOP OF LLEIDA, Juan Piris Frigola, has demanded that any priests or monks under his stewardship must obtain a special certificate to prove they have never been convicted of a sexual offence.
The ‘Certificate of Sexual Offences’ can be obtained online from a government website and must be carried by anyone working with minors as the country attempts a crackdown on paedophilia and other such crimes.
The Bishop’s request will apply to 80 priests, 100 monks and around 400 volunteers, who have until September to obtain the documentation.
