THE body of a young man reported missing on Saturday afternoon (May 28) was found on San Juan de los Terreros beach in Pulpi on Sunday morning, Emergency Services have reported.
The man, a local resident of Moroccan origin believed to have been about 19, was reported missing by friends who were swimming off Playa Serena on Saturday afternoon.
Although Aemet weather agency had issued yellow alerts for the area for Saturday due to strong westerly winds, difficult sea conditions and waves of up to three metres, the group of youngsters had decided to go for a swim but realised at about 5.30pm that one of them had disappeared.
Although family, friends, coastguard ships and a helicopter carried out extensive searches during the night, they were unable to find the missing man, whose body was eventually found at 10.20am.
