The traditional Koto.
FRIGILIANA streets will resound with a taste of Japan on Saturday June 4. A concert of contemporary and traditional Japanese music is a first for the village.
The Casa del Apero will delight in the sounds of both the shakuhachi, a bamboo flute which was traditionally used as a weapon in the 15th and 16th centuries by Buddhist monks and the Koto. This national instrument of Japan is over 2 meters in length and can have up to 25 strings.
The concert brings together musicians from Japan playing their traditional instruments with a Brazilian cello and electronics player and a Spanish percussionist.
The concert will begin at 8.30pm and offers free entry until the venue is full to capacity.
