BIG-HEARTED: The mayor with AFIMES Members.
OBRA SOCIAL LA CAIXA, the social responsibility arm of Catalan banking giant La Caixa, has donated €8,210 to the fibromyalgia association of Estepona (AFIMES), at an event attended by town Mayor Jose Maria Garcia Urbano on Monday June 20.
The official expressed his delight at the collaboration, stressing the importance of the association which aims “to achieve a higher quality of life for the people it helps.”
AFIMES was set up in 2004 to provide special treatment for sufferers of rheumatic condition fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome, and lymphoedema, and the new donation will be used to cover the costs of psychological therapy, following a gift of €25,000 received from the same beneficiary in 2015 which facilitated the purpose of two psychotherapy ‘machines.’
