THE Guardia Civil detained a man in Rivas Vaciamadrid, in the Madrid region, after they had reason to believe he had imprisoned his 19-year-old son for two years. The boy had managed to send an email notification to a police domestic abuse helpline.
When they acted on the information and gained a warrant to enter the house, the young man was released from the family home in an apparent state of malnutrition and dehydration. His sister confirmed his story with the Guardia Civil.
The house was described as being in a squalid state, and it is thought the arrested man may be suffering from mental problems. The youth is being treated in hospital and is expected to make a full recovery. The man who was arrested also tried to attack the arresting officers and he awaits charges.
