AS the tinder dry conditions continue another major blaze has occurred, this time in Calpe. The fire is clearly visible from much of the town which will be packed with tourists at this time of year.
Early reports indicate that the blaze started in the La Canuta urbanisation and quickly spread. Some houses have been evacuated and there are widespread power outages. Traffic has also been disrupted along the N332, already a very busy road in this area, and in July more so than usual.
Several units of fire brigades and other emergency services have been sent to tackle the blaze.
More details to follow as the story unfolds.
