COURT CONVINCED: McLaren MP4-12C was ‘particularly special.’

IT was another tragicomic week on the always entertaining American roads filled with different oddities, triumphs and catastrophic embarrassments.

A Virginian woman wielding a red convertible Mercedes 380 SL became an internet phenomenon when she somehow managed to reverse right over the bonnet of a gleaming €270,000 Ferrari while parallel parking, despite having ample room.

A bemused crowd gathered but the unfortunate Ferrari owner was nowhere to be seen. Both cars participated in a weekly car enthusiast get together just around the corner.

Meanwhile a McLaren MP4-12C driver won compensation for being ‘deprived of the enjoyment’ of driving his favourite car after it was damaged by a tractor.

Despite having a BMW 5 Series, Range Rover, and a pair of Aston Martins, the furious driver convinced the court that the McLaren was ‘particularly special’ and he was duly given general damages and reimbursement for his two months of deprivation while it was fixed.

On the electric front one man suffered a pulmonary embolism whilst cruising in his Tesla Model X and, rather than stopping and calling for help, the quick-witted driver instructed autopilot to take him to the nearest emergency unit, which it duly did, driving 20 miles before he took over to sort out hospital parking.
