CABO DE GATA: An inflatable boat was spotted drifting off the coast.
THE body of a woman in an advanced state of decomposition has been found in a badly burned inflatable boat off the coast of the Cabo de Gata-Nijar natural park. The dinghy was spotted drifting close to Calas de la Vela Blanca.
The coastguard and Guardia Civil were alerted and a maritime rescue boat was used to tow the boat to the city port. The woman was said to be wearing a bikini top and police said there were no obvious signs of violence.
The investigation into the cause of her death has now been passed over to the Judicial Police, who were in the process of performing a post-mortem after the body was transferred to Almeria’s Institute of Legal Medicine.
The Guardia Civil have been tasked with delving into the circumstances surrounding her discovery.
