Twelve-year-old Molly Chatsworth wants to be an ordinary girl. There is only one problem, the dead keep appearing in her bedroom at night.

One afternoon, while waiting at the station to meet her father, she has a strange encounter with a tormented spirit called Alfredo Zim, who turns her whole world upside down. Zim tells her a long held family secret, that she is a Lightworker with amazing untold abilities. He also tells her about the evil Lord Skeldrin, and warns her never to go to London. Soon after, all that Mr Zim has said begins to come true.
