MOUNTAIN HIDEOUT: Lack of money got lads captured.

TECHNOLOGY savvy police have managed to locate a missing teenager after using social media to mount an impressive campaign.

Sixteen-year-old Sergio Gonzalez sprinted from his home in Arroyo de la Miel, Benalmadena, on Thursday, August 18, clutching a towel and blue backpack following an argument with his parents.

Mum Eva Sanz said that his attitude has changed considerably in recent months, believing him to have fallen in with the wrong crowd, one of whom accompanied him on his escapade after he apparently helped his friend escape from his bedroom.

Sergio was eventually located in Mijas Pueblo on Tuesday, August 23, after a woman who had spotted his picture on Twitter saw the two money-less lads asking for a glass of water and help charging their mobile phones.

The Twitter campaign resulted in a number of residents calling in as it became a trending topic by Friday, August 19, the day after the boys headed for the hills.
