Emily Thornberry in red
WITH National Day taking place on September 10 without any red and white balloons, it seems that the hot air may be replaced by an enormous delegation of politicians anxious to see what Gibraltar gets up to when it lets its hair down.
In fairness, this is a major coup for the Gibraltar government to persuade 19 sitting MPs (11 Conservative, 6 Labour and 2 SNP) together with two Lords and two MEPs (one of whom does represent the dissenting voice of UKIP) to visit the Rock on this important occasion to discover the arguments being put forward for a Gibraltar in partnership with the EU and not as part of Spain!
To accompany the visit, a letter has been received from shadow Foreign Secretary, Emily Thornberry MP where she commits her party to fully back Gibraltar and never to allow any talks on sovereignty to take place unless it be the will of the Gibraltar people.
