Quicker by road

TRAIN REPLACEMENT: Passengers have said the bus is quicker and has better air con.

THERE was a 3 per cent fall in passengers using the Benidorm-Denia tram, in July.

The region’s rail operator FGV had expected a sharper drop after the Calpe-Denia section of Line 9 was closed on safety grounds until modernisation can be carried out.

The bus service put on by the region’s rail operator FGV is, according to passengers, proving faster than the train between Calpe and Denia. This winds through a sinuous, unarguably scenic route that occasionally loops back on itself.  The substitute bus, which stops at the same stations as the trenet, takes less time and has better air-conditioning, too, passengers have said.
