Paralympic closing ceremony.
RIO saw the closing ceremony of the Paralympic games with another impressive ceremony and Tokyo took up the baton for both the 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games to be held in that city in 2020.
In the meantime, there will be two official parades, one in Manchester on October 17 and the other in London on October 18 to congratulate and celebrate the record breaking success of the British teams in both events in Brazil.
Britain’s Olympic athletes won 27 gold medals and 67 medals in total which is a record beating number for non-domestic games, surpassing their target of 48 medals and coming second in the overall medal table behind the USA.
ParalympicsGB won 64 gold medals, the largest number won by a British team since 1988, and a total of 147 medals which also saw the British team ending in second place in the medals table this time trailing only to China.
