Gang of masked robbers arrested in Madrid

Opera fans can enjoy the exquisite atmosphere of New York’s opera from Almeria

A GROUP of five young people, who are suspected of robbing five commercial premises over a three day period using crowbars and jemmies to force their way through metal shutters, breaking windows and escaping with cash registers and slot machines in the Madrid suburb of Alcala de Henares, have been arrested by the National Police .

Officers surprised the group of men who were wearing hoods and caps when they tried to steal a luxury car and in their attempt to escape the driver of the car tried to run over one of the officers and rammed the police vehicles that tried to block their path.

In the stolen car, the police found a cash register stolen from a shop earlier in the evening together with false number plates, clubs, gloves, caps and Halloween masks.
